What makes the Texas Power Switch so great?

What makes the Texas Power Switch better than finding my own deal with a provider privately?

Hi Bob,

Great question.

Most Texans are overpaying for their electricity, and so many are in a position to save with our program. Our plans are always simple, fixed-rate plans, with no hidden fees, at a competitive rate. Our service helps many people find a competitive, transparent plan, without searching for it.

While it is certainly possible to use a program to locate competitive offers, often these offers aren't as transparent or good as they seem. Many of the seemingly cheapest rates offered are often are only for 2-3 month contracts, which means you'll be looking again quickly for a new provider.

The Texas Power Switch usually offer 12-24 month contracts with our winning supplier and we personally vet the companies competing in our reverse auction and guarantee the quality of their service for our customers. Furthermore, in the unlikely event that any issues arise between you and the provider that you are unable resolve between yourselves, then we will act as a mediator.

We also offer a unique service in which we allow customers to have a switch window within a few months of the personal offer so they can avoid termination fees. For example, if your personal offer is in February but your current contract expires in April, then we can still offer the same rate with our winning supplier and do the switch in April for you.

Furthermore, it's free to sign up and there's no penalties for not accepting the personal offer. We are interested in helping Texans get the best electricity rates and making informed decisions for themselves.

I hope this information makes you feel confident in signing up with the Texas Power Switch!

Just for complete clarification; fixed rate plans are truly fixed with no hidden fees, is that correct?  Given what happened with the power satiation a few weeks ago and residents electric bills being moved to a crazy high price per KWH I just want to ensure that if I sign on for a fixed rate plan that it will be fixed regardless of the situation.  Please advise If I've missed anything in the fine print of the T&C of the agreements.  Thank you so much.

Hi Darren!

Thank you for your question. A fixed-rate plan is about the energy charge you are being charged by a provider. Fixed-rate means that the rate is always relative to how much you use. So you will not be charged more if you use less or more than a certain amount of kWh. A plan could in theory still have a fixed rate plan and then hidden fees written into the Electricity Facts Label.

The plans we offer have no hidden fees. Our plans need to be simple, fixed-rate plans, and no base charge. (Sometimes providers charge a month fee, usually $4.95 or $9.95). To ensure that what we are saying is true, you can always check the Electricity Facts Label. All the details of an electricity plan need to be provided on this document, so if there were to be any tricks or hidden fees, you would see them there. You can find the Electricity Facts Label on the personal offer page when there is a winning offer available. If you view the Electricity Facts Label and still have questions, you can always email us and we can help you walk through it.

At the moment there is no winning offer available, the next offer will be sent out to registrants by June 1st.

I hope this is helpful!

Rachel
